Love of Truth
By Asher Intrater
Continuing our discussion from the previous article, "What is Truth?" –
There is an onslaught of lies in today's society. Communications systems have mushroomed beyond all imagination. The younger generation is being flooded by so much seemingly contradictory information that they feel it is impossible to believe in any "one" truth. The idea that there is such a thing as "absolute" truth seems old-fashioned and archaic.
However truth remains the truth no matter how many are lying. Ultimately the truth will prevail, by the very fact that it is true.
II Corinthians 13:8 – For we cannot do anything against the truth, but only for the truth.
To find truth, we must desire it and look for it. Truth is not discerned passively. We must overcome enormous amounts of untruths before we can arrive at the truth. We must want the truth even if it goes against our selfishness. We must love the truth more than lies that make us feel good. We are to be a people who "love the truth" whether or not it is socially acceptable.
II Thessalonians 2:10 – …received the love of truth by which they can be saved
People who really want and love truth will find it. As they understand, believe and obey the truth, they are saved. That group of people who have loved and found the truth in the face of such opposition, must then hold on to it, protect it and pass it on to others.
I Timothy 3:15 - …the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of truth.
We are called to be a "pillar and stronghold" of the truth despite the darkness in the world. The community of faith is composed of those who love truth, defend truth, live according to truth, and fight for the truth in our society.
The Kingdom is Extended through Prayer
By Dan Juster
Prayer is the primary engine of Kingdom extension. Many other religions were founded and spread by the sword, like Islam. However, our faith is to be spread by the supernatural weapons of preaching the Gospel and laying down our lives for others. This may look weak and foolish. We read in II Corinthians 10:4 that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty in God for the pulling down of strongholds. Prayer is that mighty weapon in our arsenal to be used constantly.
Yeshua taught that we are to pray, “Your Kingdom come, your will be done." This is a prayer to be empowered to establish God’s rule in every sphere of which we are a part, to extend this Kingdom to the lost, and lastly, to desire His return. Prayer affects the progress of the Gospel and the perfecting of the Body of Believers. Matthew 7 is in the context of Kingdom extension. Yeshua said, “Ask and it will be given to you, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks, the door will be opened” (Matt. 7:7-8).
Where two or three agree, there is great power. How much more when a hundred fervently agree! The kind of prayer that works is “Will of God” prayer. When we dwell in the Vine, we know His heart. Yeshua promises us that we will have whatever we ask if we so abide (John 15:7). In John 14:13, Yeshua says, “I will do whatever you ask in my name so that Father may be glorified in the Son.” Praying in His name is not a magic formula. In the Hebraic context this means praying according to the meaning of His name, the essence of who He is. Our desires become as His.
James, after a description of the power of Elijah’s prayer, wrote, “The effectual, fervent prayer of a righteousness man avails much.” Individual and corporate prayer meetings and fasting are essential for the extension of the Kingdom. If this is so, we will be happy if we will obey and practice this truth. The great movements that have extended the Kingdom of God were birthed and fostered by prayer. Great saints of old have testified to the power of such prayer, from George Mueller, the English minister to orphans, to Hudson Taylor, the founder of Chinese missions to Heidi Baker today in Africa. We join in embracing this orientation.

Beit Netanel Update
By Rachel & Gilad
One of my friends told me recently that she prays every day to God, but why does she need to know Jesus because she can talk directly to God. I quoted to her from Deut. 18:15, “The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your midst, from your brethren. Him you shall hear.” I also spoke to her about the rebellion of Korah who thought he didn’t need Moses. If you speak to God directly, then you should know what He expects from us. I then gave her several scriptures from the Tenach which point directly to Yeshua. She wanted to know what she should do and I told her that salvation through Yeshua is the only answer.
Please pray for the open house we will have at Beit Netanel during the annual festival that will be held September 18-19 in Ein Kerem.
