World evangelism leads up to the 2nd Coming of Yeshua (Jesus). One of the purposes of evangelism is to prepare the world for Yeshua's kingdom. He will not come back until the message of that kingdom is shared with all the nations of the earth.

Matthew 24:14
This gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations and then the end will come.

World evangelism is a pre-requisite of the 2nd Coming; and the 2nd Coming is the goal of world evangelism. The connection between world evangelism and the 2nd Coming can also be seen by comparing verse 8 and verse 11 of Acts chapter 1.

Acts 1:8
You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be witnesses of Me in Jerusalem, all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.

Acts 1:11
This same Yeshua… will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.

The disciples are commanded to share the gospel all over the world. At the same time they are instructed that Yeshua will return to the same place they are starting from.  The gospel starts in Jerusalem and ends in Jerusalem.

There is a strategic order to world evangelism. The gospel went from Jerusalem to the ends of the world. Since the world is round, it will eventually go from the "ends of the world" back to "Jerusalem". It is fascinating to see members of the underground church in China, who have never been exposed to Western theology, receive the "Back to Jerusalem" vision sovereignly through the Holy Spirit.

The purpose of the gospel is to establish Yeshua's kingdom on the earth. He must come back to establish that kingdom. The capital of Yeshua's kingdom on earth will be Jerusalem.  Therefore, Yeshua must come back to Jerusalem.

Yeshua will not return until the residents of Jerusalem are ready to receive Him.  Yeshua returns as David's Son to rule on David's throne. Jerusalem was David's capital. The inhabitants of Jerusalem are the descendants of David. Yeshua will not return as the Son of David until the descendants of David are ready to receive Him.

Hosanna to the Son of David. Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord

Matthew 23:37, 39
O Jerusalem, Jerusalem… You will not see Me again until you say, "Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord."

As world evangelism is a pre-requisite of the 2nd Coming, so is the restoration of Israel. There is a direct relationship between the restoration of Israel and the 2nd Coming of Yeshua.  World evangelism, the 2nd Coming, and the restoration of Israel are all connected one to the other. Let us be committed to both world evangelism (Acts 1:8) and the restoration of the kingdom to Israel (Acts 1:6).
